New Companion, Staying in Bauru: February 4, 2013

Dear Everyone,

  1. Are our letters to you too long? Do you have enough time to do what you need to do during your hour online? No, the letters are perfect!
  2. On the same lines, do you ever print things off (like our letters) at the LAN house? I only print off the letters from the president and zone leaders because we use them in district meeting, and sometimes I print out photos, but I am just storing the letters on the computer for now.
  3. Aunt Jeannie wants to know if you got the picture from Dane? Yes, it came with the letter.
  4. Are your clothes fitting tighter? Because I think you are looking a little thin if anything in some of the pictures you’ve sent. No, my clothes fit the same and I weigh the same (160) but it just seems like my face is fatter.
 RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great choice of t-shirt, Jason!!! VERY COOL!!!! I’m glad to see you’re becoming a little bit more interested in football so we can watch games together and stuff after our missions!!

Today was transfer day, and Elder F. is leaving to be the district leader in my old district in Apucarana!!! My new companion is Elder A. who just finished 6 months as a secretary in the mission office, so we will see how things go! It is sad to see Elder F. leave but I am excited to work with Elder A. (another American!!!!)

We did a ton of home improvement projects this past week. We put together a cupboard; took apart all the windows, cleaned them, and put them back together; took apart a door that wouldn’t close, and bought a new lock and installed it; we took apart our almost-broken washing machine and swapped out the electronic plate for a new one, and put it all back together; and we took apart the showerhead and replaced it so now it doesn’t drip and give electric shocks.

We’ve now had three weeks in a row with a baptism!!!! It will be tough to get 4 in a row because we don’t have any STRONG candidates. We baptized P., the brother of our baptism last week, on Sunday. He is really cool and he will go to the camping activity with the Young Men this weekend. His sister D., our baptism last week, was confirmed yesterday, so that was really good.

Elder F. and I both ate something that had gone bad on Friday, and we both have had diarrhea and Elder F. has been vomiting all weekend. (Don’t worry, we already called Sister T. and started taking medicine and everything and we are almost 100% now!!) I am starting to count in Preach My Gospel the number of times I have gotten diarrhea and that I have puked!! (Sorry, you probably didn´t want to hear about this part of the work.)

This week will be interesting because it is CARNAVAL.

One more random picture. I don’t know what these are called, but these things stick to your pants as you walk by, and they are really sharp.

I think that´s about it, sorry the letters are getting shorter, it’s not that I don’t want to write you guys, it’s just that the weeks are all blending together... and it is hard to find NEW things that we did during the week.

Lots of Love,
Elder Cummings

  1. Love that they were so industrious in the apartment this week...what a blessing for elders to come. Can't believe how many companions he gets! I hope you're inviting his new companion's mother to our facebook page! P.S. Those things on his pants were called goat heads in Texas!
